Green Cross prides itself in the quality and reliability of our products. All our
shoes are manufactured to the strict standards and every shoe is thoroughly checked,
tested and inspected before dispatch. To ensure and enhance the product’s life span,
it is important to adhere to our shoe care instructions.
General tips:
- Alternate your shoes and try not to wear the same pair every day. This allows them
to breathe and retain their shape.
- Durability and reliability can be further improved by proper foot care, e.g. foot
balms, creams etc.
- Sharp, long toenails, hard skin and cracked heels can damage materials.
- Avoid environments encompassing oils, chemicals and solvents.
- Allow shoes to dry naturally at room temperature.
- Do not force dry, e.g. heater, hairdryer, fire, tumble dryer or any other source
of direct heat.
- Do not soak or submerge shoes in water.
- To help maintain the shape of the shoes, stuff shoes with tissue paper or use a
shoe tree.
- Harsh household cleaning agents such as Handy Andy, turpentine, thinners, benzene,
petrol and nail polish remover must never be used on any of our footwear. These
chemicals destroy the natural leather.
- Leather uppers should be regularly cleaned with leather cleaner and polished with
reputable polish.
- Due to the absorption qualities of natural leather, shoes will discolor with time
and wear. Remove dirt with a soft brush or wiping with slightly damp cloth (not
wet).
- Shoes which are crafted from natural wood are unfortunately particularly vulnerable
to knocks and bumps.
Care of different types of leather:
- Ensure that selected polish matches the upper colour.
- Neutral shoe cream/ polishes should be used for light coloured or natural leathers.
- Apply evenly in small amounts and buff with clean dry cloth.
- Wipe with clean cloth followed by gentle buffing.
- Surface dirt should be removed with a soft brush. Some stains may be removed using
suitable suede cleaner.
- N.B. Certain cleaners can darken the colour of the upper.
- A soft brush can be used to restore and raise the nap of the leather.
- Avoid spilling oily liquid onto the nubuck Leather, as this will permanently damage
it.
- Do not use liquid polish, as these leathers have been specifically treated with
waxes and oils to give optimum suppleness, comfort and authenticity.
- Scratches may easily occur but can be removed in most cases by gently rubbing the
surface area.
- Specifically formulated shoe creams for oily and waxy leather can be used. Using
a cloth, work well into the leather, buffing with a clean, dry cloth, should shinier
surface be required.
- Wipe with a clean cloth, moistened only with water.
- Gently rub with a dry cloth to return to a shiny finish.
Should you find any colour variations or slight imperfections, these are natural
markings the hallmarks of true genuine leather.
